Associate Professor in Nordic Medieval Art, University of Oslo

A vacancy as Associate professor (SKO 1011) in Nordic Medieval art is available at the Department of Archaeology, Museum of Cultural History, University of Oslo.

The Museum of Cultural History houses an exceptional and prominent collection of medieval ecclesiastic art, which is internationally renowned. We seek a candidate with extensive experience in the field of medieval art and imagery, who can further our knowledge of the Museum’s collection and unlock its potential for new research. We are looking for a candidate who can put church art into a wider context of European cultural history, and contextualize it as an integrated part of medieval material culture and society. The successful applicant is expected to collaborate with other research environments at the Museum, and contribute to the development of research projects that are in accordance with the strategies of the Museum of Cultural History.

The position is twofold, where 50 % is allocated to research and 50 % is allocated to museum work (administrative tasks included). Aside from research obligations, the position will offer a variety of tasks connected to the documentation and management of the museum collections, work with exhibitions, consultancy and dissemination.
