St. Olaf Norwegian Department Tenure Track Position

The St. Olaf College Norwegian Department seeks an energetic and committed teacher and scholar to teach courses in Norwegian language and literature, beginning August 15, 2018.   This is a tenure-track position expected at the Assistant professor rank.  Specialization in Norwegian literature and Nordic Studies (including literature, film, cultural studies, or interdisciplinary approaches) is preferred, with a commitment to language pedagogy. We are particularly interested in applicants who will contribute to the department’s commitment to increasing access and opportunities for populations that are currently under-represented in the area of Norwegian.

There are also opportunities to teach a specialized course or to teach in interdisciplinary programs. A commitment to experiential learning through international study is highly desirable. Ph.D., native or near-native competence in Norwegian (Bokmål), demonstrated superior teaching skills and scholarly promise required. Applicants are expected to have a completed Ph.D. in hand by August 15th, 2018. Review of applications will begin on January 5, 2018.
